Funeral services for Hazel Claire Jackson, 93, of Lubbock and formerly of Levelland will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2012 at Second Baptist Church Family Life Center in Levelland with Reverend Mike Holster and Reverend Joe Randall Stewart, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. There will be a Family Visitation on Sunday, March 25, 2012 from 4:00 ~ 6:00 pm at George Price Funeral Home in Levelland. She died Friday, March 23, 2012 in Lubbock.
She was born on December 29,
1918 in Denton County, Texas. She married Tom Willis Jackson on August 31, 1937 in Clovis, New Mexico. Hazel loved reading, her garden, quilting, sewing, crossword puzzle and particularly canning jellies for her grandchildren. She was a member of Ropesville Baptist Church for more than 50 years before joining Second Baptist Church, Levelland, Texas.
Survivors include four daughters: Barbara Witt, Tommy Claire Hopkins and her husband, Jack and Kay Cross and her husband, Charley, all of Lubbock, Texas and Janis Stewart and her husband Joe Ed of Seminole; two sons: Gerry Jackson of The Woodlands, and Hugh Wayne Jackson and his wife, Callie of Levelland, twenty grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Mabel Claire and Henry Lee Thomas, two sisters: Lois Barnes and Beth Thompson, a brother: Hugh Thomas; her husband: Tom Jackson; a daughter: Lanelle Dewbre; a grandson: Tommy Barger the First, and a great-grandson: Randall Kyle Stewart.
