

Funeral services for Janie L. Rumbaugh, 87, long time resident of Levelland will be held Friday, April 8, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland with Bro. Roy Prather officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of George Price Funeral Directors. Janie passed away in Smyer, Texas on April 5, 2016 at 6:24 pm at her granddaughter’s home. She was under the care of Encompass Home Health. Born July 16, 1928 to J.B. (Ben) and Gracie Aken in Addington, Oklahoma where she lived in the area most of her young life. Janie met and married the love of her life Raymond Rumbaugh on April 15, 1948. Together they moved to Levelland to begin their new life in 1953. Janie was a homemaker and for awhile worked as a sales clerk for Lil Rascals Children’s Shop. She is a longtime member of Fifth Street Baptist Church and an active part of their W.M.A. class, along with being a member of The Garden Club. Her love for the Lord and her family was always the most important part to her. Janie is survived by two daughters, Dianna (Roger) Vick of Lubbock, and Sharon (Dean) Bryson of Whittharral; brother, Bobby Aken of Levelland; four granddaughters, Amy (Kerby) Sawyer of Lubbock, Mistie (Brad) Smith of Lubbock, Jennifer Bryson of Whitharral, and Nikki (Brandon) Cage of Smyer; three great grandsons, Keith (Kelsey) Sawyer of Lubbock, Kyler Smith of Lubbock, and Blakeley Cage of Smyer; four great granddaughters, Ashley Sawyer of Lubbock, Kelsie Smith of Lubbock, and Autumn and Adleigh Cage of Smyer; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her husband, Raymond in 2004, and her sister, Georgia Pinkman in 2008. Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 pm in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests that any charitable do-nation go to the charity of your choice.
