Nora Leota Hatton passed into Jesus’ arms on Sunday January 23, 2011. She was born May 14, 1916 in Hamilton County, Texas to Ben & Hattie Pointer. Leota grew up in Ropesville and Lubbock. She married Jack D. Bennett in 1935. They had 3 girls and lived on a cotton farm until 1959, when they returned to Levelland and opened Leota’s Beauty Bar. Following 52 years of marriage to Jack Bennett who passed away in 1988, she found love again and married Truett Hatton. The two of them loved playing bridge and participating with the senior citizens. She moved to the Mid Cities area in 2003 to be close to her daughters and families. She had spent the last 2 years at Watermere in Southlake, Texas.
Leota was a strong Christian, attending College Avenue Baptist and later First Baptist of Levelland.
She was a great artist in many mediums, but China painting was her favorite.
Preceding her in death were husbands; Jack Bennett, Truett Hatton, daughter Joye Davis, a grandson: Jacky Mac Davis and a great-grandson Lance Golden.
Survivors are: two daughters Jackie Railsback & husband Charles of Hurst, Judi Bennett of Bedford, Texas; her brother and his wife: J.C. & Majorie Pointer of Levelland She has 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday January 27, 2011 in George Price Funeral Chapel, Levelland, Texas. Visitation is Wednesday January 26, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Associa-tion.
The family would like to give a BIG “thank you” to the Car-diac Care Unit and E.R. at the HEB Hospital in Bedford.
