Loyd Gaston Hodges

Loyd Hodges, 99, of Levelland, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Lynwood Nursing and Rehab in Levelland, Texas. Funeral Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas and will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland, Texas with Elgin Conner officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas.

Loyd was born on May 12,1912 in Comanche County, Texas, the son of Benjamin and Sophronia (Walker) Hodges. He married Johnnie Beatrice Rowlett in Seminole Texas on January 19,1939.Loyd liked to fish and hunt quail back in his younger days. He worked for Exxon Corporation as a lease operator for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of Austin Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by one son: Loyd Hodges and his wife, Sue of Austin, Texas, two daughters; Dolores Rolen of Levelland, Texas, Jeannie Bell and her husband, Edward of Brownfield, Texas, and one sister; Jewell Boone of El Cahon, California, one brother; S.T. Hodges and his wife, Dixie of Emory, Texas seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Beatrice in 2009, one brother; Jack Hodges, two sisters; Grace Boone and Beryl Campbell, two brothers-in-law; Tot and Olney Boone.
