

Memorial services for Max Poer, 53, of Levelland will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Levelland with Dr. Jon Sharpe and Dr., Cleve Kerby, officiating. He died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his home following a valiant fight with kidney and lung cancer.
Max was born on June 8, 1960 at Slaton, Texas to Leroy and Cheri (Arrants) Poer. They moved to Levelland in 1971 from Slaton and he graduated from Levelland High School in 1978. He attended South Plains College. In 1981 he started ACE Backhoe which he operated until 2011. He married JoBurk Roberts on July 25, 1980 in Levelland, Texas.
Max was a Man’s Man, he loved the lake, hunting, fast cars and trucks and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by a son: Jed Poer and his father, Leroy Poer.
Survivors include his wife: JoBurk Poer of Levelland, Texas, a son: Brennan Poer of Colorado City, Texas; his mother: Cheri Poer of Slaton, Texas; his sister: Christi Rister of Lubbock, Texas and a brother: Sam Poer of Slaton, Texas.
The family suggests memorials to the Kidney-Cancer Association or to the Max and Jed Poer Memorial Scholarship Fund, South Plains College, 1401 S. College, Levelland, Texas 79336.
