

Alla Muriel Clark Hicks was welcomed as the first child of Claude Thomas and Wanda Gregory Clark on May 9, 1927 in Littlefield, Texas. She transitioned to the next life on March 10, 2013 in Levelland, Texas, having reached the age of 85.
She attended schools in Littlefield and graduated from Sundown High School. She was a deeply religious person and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Muriel married Martin Weldon Hicks on April 5, 1948 in New Mexico. During the years they lived in Sundown, Seminole, Hereford, Kermit and Buffalo Gap. Muriel moved to Levelland on June 1, 2010 and lived in Lynwood Apartments.
M. W. worked in the oil field as well as running his own plumbing, heating and air/conditioning and construction businesses. Muriel was a full-time homemaker and accountant for their businesses. She and daughter, Sherrie, successfully owned and managed a general store in Sundown and later a dress shop in Levelland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M. W. Hicks, who died on December 9, 2006.
She is survived by two brothers, Bobbie Clark of Seminole, Texas, and James Clark of Amarillo, Texas, all three children and spouses: Randy and Marilynn Hicks of Matador, Texas, Gary and Cindy Hicks of Buffalo Gap, Texas, and Sherrie Hicks Bishop and Wayne Bishop of Midland. Grandchildren include Andre Elmore Kemp of Levelland, Renee Elmore McClure of Amarillo, Kevin Hicks, of Austin, Jason Hicks of Abilene, Lara Hicks Escobar of Amarillo, Brad Hicks of Dallas, and Kale Hicks Flordelis of Yucaipa, California. She also had 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Tony Hicks of Yucaipa, California.
Funeral services will be held at Price Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on March 12, 2013 with Rob Callicott of the Cactus Drive Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be beside M. W. Hicks in the McCaulley Cemetery between Anson and Snyder.
The family acknowledges the loving and professional care of the staff at Levelland Covenant Hospital, Interim Hospice, specifically Amanda and Patty, Direct Health Care nurses, the nursing staff and physical therapy department at Lynwood Nursing Home and RehabilitationCenter, and Dr. Bailey.
