Gayle, I ran across this obit looking for you. Sorry to hear of your loss, but happy your mother had a long life. She was very kind to me when we went home from Tech to visit for the weekend. I still make macaroni salad the way she did and sent it back to school with us. Hope you are well. Mary Anne Carroll Smith (roommate in West Hall as sophomores).

Gayle and George, your family and, indeed, the entire community suffers a great loss at Butch's passing. Her sense of humor, grace, compassion, and professionalism was always a source of strength to those of us who were blessed to cross her path. She is truly missed. What a wonderful legacy she has left. I see her traits in the both of you. May God give you strength and comfort.

Your mom and dad hold special places in my memory. I know you will miss her while being glad that she is with your dad. I can just see her now- and it brings a smile everytime I think about her. Your parents gave the best of service to the community and I am grateful for that, too. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. And an extra hug for you, Gayle- I've always treasured you.
