

Reyes David Gonzales, 74 of Levelland died on January 5, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Levelland,
Reyes was born on January 6, 1939 in Melvin, Texas. His parents were the late Benito Gonzales and the late Carolina Martinez Gonzales. Reyes grew up along with his siblings around Melvin, Brady and Levelland, TX throughout his childhood. He met Guadalupe Morales in the late 1950’s and married and began his family in Levelland, Texas. He worked various jobs in farming and was instrumental in helping lay the foundation for South Plains College. By the early 1960’s Reyes opted to move his family to California where he found gainful employment with the Sylvania Plant in Santa Cruz, CA. He raised his family in Santa Cruz and later became the owner of his own Garage. Reyes had a passion for fixing cars or any automotive transportation. He always stated “Jack of all trades, master to none”. Reyes, was always willing to help others and was a good friend to many. Hobbies included spending time with family barbeques, shooting pool and the local bar. Traveling was one of his most treasured times. Reyes is survived by his daughter Juanita Mora and husband Raul of Levelland, TX., daughter Maria Castillo and husband Carlos of Watsonville, CA., daughter Angie Fullmer and husband James of Camarillo, CA., son Benito Salazar and wife Laura of Lubbock, TX., Also his siblings Martin Gonzales of Levelland, TX,. Anabelia Quintanilla of Lamesa, TX., Jose Angel Gonzales of Laredo TX., and Gloria Gonzales of Desert Hot Springs, CA.
Grandchildren Juan Mora, Miguel Mora of Lubbock TX, Andrea Mora of Levelland TX, Nicolas Castillo of Fresno CA, Gracie Castillo of Washington DC, Emily Fullmer of Camarillo CA, Samantha Fullmer of Camarillo CA, Daniel Salazar, Christian Salazar of Lubbock TX. Great Grandchildren Angelyce Mora of Levelland Tx, and Juanito More of Lubbock TX. And several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lubbock-Covenant Palliative Care Unit, Alzheimer’s Association of Lynwood Nursing and Rehab Memorial Rose Garden.
