Services will be held in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 with burial to follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery. Robert was born on December 24, 1928 in Lubbock, Texas. He was the oldest son of Robert Oliver Turner, Sr. and Mattie Rudell (Short) Turner. He attended Levelland schools through elementary and then moved to Ropes where he graduated high school in 1946. He attended Texas Tech University where he studied geology and started working for Phillips 66 in Andrews, Texas. During that time, his Dad needed help with the farm and Robert started farming in Arnett. During the Korean War, he was stationed in Bamberg, Germany with the Army. While in Germany, Robert fell in love with German automotive engineering and especially the Mercedes-Benz cars. In 1954, Robert met and married Charlene Ellison and they settled out on the farm in Arnett. In 1957 their son, Craig, was born and in 1962 their daughter, Jan, arrived. Robert farmed until 1988 when he retired. In 1996, after 41 beautiful years of marriage, Robert lost Charlene to cancer. He then moved to Lake Whitney so he could fish and take his family water skiing. In 2000 he moved to Weatherford to be closer to both Craig and Jan. In 2006 he moved to Virginia when Jan and Mike moved there. Robert loved cars, fishing, watching westerns on television, along with any action movie ever made, and country music. He was a very special Dad, Grandpa and PaPa. He is survived by his son, Craig of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Jan (Mike) Hueber of Bedford, VA; grandchildren, Justin Turner of San Diego, CA; Colton Turner of Dallas; Stephen Hueber of Belmont, NC; Amanda (Joshua) Flynn of Colorado Springs, CO; Kelley (Ben) Smith of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 great-grandchildren, Arabella and Ainsley Flynn and Merritt Smith; along with scores of family and friends that are left to cherish his memory.
