Albert Charles Cecco, 84, of Levittown, Pa, fondly known as “Al” or “Sonny” to family and friends, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8th, 2024. Albert was born on May 5th, 1939, in Danville, Pa. to Albert and Pearl Cecco. He grew up alongside his siblings on his family’s farm in Elysburg, Pa. He attended Ralpho Township Schools, where he graduated in 1957. Later, he attended and graduated Bloomsburg University in 1961. Throughout his teaching career he taught in several districts in Lower Bucks County. Al held a Master’s Degrees from Penn State University and Trenton State College. He retired from Neshaminy School District as a guidance counselor in 1997. He always enjoyed helping prospective college students plan their academic journey.
Sonny married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Martini, in May 1960. The couple bought their forever home in Levittown in 1963 where they raised their three children. Sonny often volunteered as a baseball coach with Levittown Continental Little League. He was a longtime member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish. He often called bingo and worked the annual summer carnival at the church. He enjoyed the camaraderie of seeing his friends and sharing a drink at the Elks and VFW. Throughout his life, his favorite hobby was playing cards, especially pinnacle and bridge. Al was also a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, closely following the Phillies and Eagles.
Albert is survived by his children: Karen Horn (Frank) of Langhorne, Pa. Ken Cecco (Judy) of Exton, Pa. Kevin Cecco (Stacey) of Poolesville, Md.; nIne grandchildren: Colleen, Meghan, Kerry Horn, Jessica Boone (Colby), Alex and Sarah Cecco, Madison and Delaney Cecco, and 1 great-grandson: Kyle Horn.
Sonny is also survived by his sister Dolores Rhoades of Naples, Fl. and David Cecco (Ann) of Medford, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen “Kate” Cecco and granddaughter Katie Rose Horn, as well as his sister Joann Kidron. Services for Al will take place on Thursday January 11, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA. Calling hours will be from 9:00 until 10:00 am. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at All Saints Cemetery in Elysburg, PA. on Friday January 12, 2024 at 11:00 am.
