

Alma PackerAlma (Ruth) Packer of Fairless Hills passed away peacefully at Attleboro Nursing Home in Langhorne, on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the age of 90.Born in Big Run, PA, she was one of 7 children born to the late Joseph and Elsie (Brunner) Elbell. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1947.She was the devoted wife of 66 years to the late Harry Packer who passed away in March of 2014. Ruth and Harry moved to Fairless Hills in 1952 and raised their three children.Ruth was a charter member of the Fairless Hills United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years. For many years, she bowled on the church bowling league and enjoyed playing canasta with friends once a month. She liked to read, cook and spend time with her grandchildren.She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Elbell of Punxsutawney, two daughters, Barbara Krushnowski (Joseph) and Judy Blackmon (Harry), one son, Jeffrey Packer (Donna), two grandsons, Jonathan Blackmon (Jenna) and David Packer, all of Fairless Hills. She also leaves behind one great granddaughter, Julianna Blackmon and several nieces and nephews.Ruth was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved bringing laughter to those around her.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 9:30 until 11:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem.Memorial contributions in Ruth's name to Alzheimers Association, Inc., Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, would be appreciated by the family.
