Born on February 19, 1948, Benjamin was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was being there for the people he loved. He was the kind of person who would do just about anything for anyone who needed him. A loving father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Benjamin touched the lives of many through his generosity, loyalty, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.
Benjamin proudly served his country in the United States Army.
On October 16, 1971, Benjamin married the love of his life, Deborah Barnes, who preceded him in death. Together, they built a family and a life filled with love and memories.
Benjamin had a creative and patient spirit and found great enjoyment in building and creating. He was an avid model train enthusiast, spending countless hours bringing his elaborate train platform to life. With trains, tracks, houses, and countless details, he transformed his setup into an amazing showpiece that reflected his creativity, patience, and attention to detail. He also enjoyed building other types of models and working on puzzles, always finding satisfaction in putting the pieces together and creating something special.
Benjamin is survived by his sons, Steven Barnes, his wife Jenny, and their children Tyler and Amber; and Jason Barnes, his wife Heather, and their children Diana and Matthew.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will live on through the family he loved so dearly, the things he created, the memories he shared, and the countless acts of kindness he gave so freely.
Benjamin’s legacy is one of family, service, creativity, friendship, and always being there when someone needed him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service, at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, PA. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park, 3850 Richlieu Rd, Bensalem, PA.
