Barnes died surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home at the age of 82.Born and raised in the Crescentville section of Philadelphia, Mr. Barnes was an original Levittown homeowner residing in Middletown Township for the past 61 years.Until his retirement in 1992, Mr. Barnes was employed with Siemens-Delaval, in Trenton, as a Machinist for many years.He is a proud US Army Korean War veteran.Mr. Barnes was a former Little League Baseball and Soccer for Coach for Middletown Athletic Association. In his younger days he would enjoy archery and target shooting with his family. He also enjoyed fishing.He is the father of the late William and Kenneth Barnes and Michele Barnes Green (Danny Green Sr.) and brother of the late Barbara Tait.Beloved husband of 61 years to Barbara E., Mr. Barnes is the loving father of James Barnes (Betty Sue); devoted grandfather of Danny Jr. and Kenneth Green; and proud great grandfather of Max.He will also be sadly missed by his sister-in-law, Joan Abel (late Alan); niece, Joanne Merkel; and nephews Richard and Mark Abel.The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and to special aide, Shannon, of Compassus Hospice for the care and compassion given to Bruce.Services and interment will be held privately.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Christopher Hospital for Children, Att: Development Office, Erie Avenue & Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134, in memory of his sons, William and Kenneth Barnes.
