Carl R. Duncan

Carl R. Duncan, Levittown resident of 64 years, passed from this life peacefully in his own home on Thursday, September 10, 2015. He was 88 years old. Born and raised in North Carolina, he served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After his service to our country, Carl relocated to Philadelphia where he met the love of his life Theresa A. (Rota) Duncan who preceded him in death. They were married for 57 years. Carl was also preceded in death by his parents Peter Duncan and Katherine (Pressley) Duncan of North Carolina and his brother Earl W. Duncan of Trevose, PA. Until his retirement in 1984, Carl was an employee of U.S. Steel where he honed the art of bricklaying. Using his skills in this field, he built his family's summer home in Central, PA and worked on bricklaying jobs in and around Bucks County from local schools and church buildings to his neighbor's treasured homes. Both Carl and Theresa were the loving parents of five children: James A. Duncan of Indiana, PA; Anthony R. Duncan (Ida) of Princeton, NJ; Donna L. Minnigh of Newtown, PA; Douglas P. Duncan of Levittown, PA; and Daniel H. Duncan (Shannon) of Bassfield, MS. Carl was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Katherine Duncan, Kristen Duncan, Jadd Minnigh, Elissa Duncan, Caitlin Duncan, Evan Minnigh, and Hunter Duncan. His many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will also sadly miss him. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, Sept. 14th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. Friends may also call on Tuesday, Sept. 15th from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Saint John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA following this service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
