Carol was a model of compassion, whose life was characterized by an unparalleled kindness and a gracious, forgiving heart.
Carol's altruistic nature led her to a career in nursing. She excelled in nursing school, having won a prominent award: Best Nurse in Respiratory Nursing and Tuberculosis. She imparted knowledge, care and comfort to countless patients at Cornell Medical Center, Delaware Valley Hospital, and Shamokin Community Hospital. Her dedication to healing and helping others was a bright light in the lives of those she served. She gracefully put her career on hold to devote herself entirely to the noble task of raising her children and creating a home where love was the foundation -a testament to her loving and sentimental nature.
Carol was the epitome of compassion, often described as the kindest, sweetest, and most forgiving person. This matriarch cherished her family above all, creating a warm home filled with love and homemade pierogies. Carol's recipe for a well-lived life included generous scoops of ice cream and a dash of soap opera intrigue. She took pleasure in the simple joys of life—sharing her love for chocolate and the beach with her family and creating treasured memories on getaways with her sisters, Barbara and Diane. She found special delight in the cherished moments spent with her grandchildren. Never one to shy away from floor time with toddlers, Carol always made herself available for play and heartfelt connection.
Predeceased in life by parents, "Duffy" and Ann Ordak, Carol leaves behind her adoring husband, James; their devoted children, James Jr. (Beverly), MaryAnn (Frank), Michael (Heidi), and Mark (Katie); and her beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Gabriel, Grace, Ryan, Ally, Keira, and Margot; and dear sisters Barbara and Diane.
Carol's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the excellent care they received at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
