Carol Daley Yocum’s life began on Christmas Eve of 1938 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania—a fitting day for someone who would spend her years giving warmth, kindness, and quiet generosity to everyone around her. On February 9th, 2026, she passed away peacefully, with loved ones by her side. She grew up in the small town of Orviston, where the one room schoolhouse and the surrounding mountains shaped her early world. Those early years instilled in her a love of learning, a deep appreciation for community, and a steady, grounded way of moving through life.
After graduating from Lock Haven High School, Carol followed her calling into education, earning her degree from Lock Haven Teacher’s College and later a master’s degree as a reading specialist from Trenton University. Teaching was never just a job for her—it was a joy, a purpose, and a source of endless stories. For more than thirty years in the Pennsbury School District, she poured her heart into helping children learn to read, to grow, and to believe in themselves. Her students remembered her warmth; her colleagues remembered her dedication. While teaching at Pennsbury she met and married her husband William E. Yocum Sr. who preceded her in death.
Carol’s life outside the classroom was just as full. She loved to travel, exploring places across the United States and around the world, always with friends or family by her side. She cherished simple pleasures—playing cards with friends, sharing meals, laughing over stories, and spending time with the people she loved. Carol had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her generosity was often quiet and unseen, but it touched countless lives.
Family meant everything to her. She carried the memory of her parents, Catherine and David Confer, and her brother, Robert, with love. She embraced her stepsons—William Jr. (Sybil), Eugene (Carolyn) and Richard (Lisa)—and delighted in her grandchildren, Rachel, Annie, and Gus. She held close her nephews, Dennis (Crystol) and Kevin (Karen) and their families. Her cousin Lana, who lived with her for the last five and a half years, was a daughter to her, sharing daily life, laughter, and companionship. And in her later years, Carol was blessed with the devoted care and friendship of Cecelia Abraham, whose presence brought comfort and ease to her final chapter.
Carol’s life was defined not by grand gestures but by steady love, loyalty, and kindness. She gave freely, listened deeply, and showed up for others in ways that mattered. She leaves behind a legacy of gentleness, generosity, and connection—a reminder that a meaningful life is built in the everyday moments we share with one another.
Calling hour for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills, 840 Trenton Rd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
