Charles Robert “Chalie” DeMuro, 87, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 17, 2025, entering into God’s care with the comfort of his Catholic faith. Born on August 20, 1938, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Anthony Dominick DeMuro and Emma Francis (Wilson) DeMuro. Chalie built a life defined by devotion, hard work, humor, and an unshakeable commitment to the people he loved.
Chalie was the beloved husband of the late Teresa DeMuro, with whom he shared a devoted marriage from 1955 until her passing in 2003. Their partnership was the heart of his life, and he carried her memory with him always.
He was a proud and loving father to Emma James (the late Charles James Jr.), Teresa DeMuro (the late George Wilson), Charlotte Amisson (William Amisson), and Charles DeMuro Jr. (Danna DeMuro). Chalie is also predeceased by his siblings: Anthony DeMuro Jr., Michael DeMuro, Gerald DeMuro, Janet DeMuro, and Ralph DeMuro.
His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Charles James III (Kristy James), Emma Steele (Steven Steele), Heather Luna (Jesus Luna), Megan Wilson, Colleen Barker (Derek Barker), Christina Amisson, Kelly Anne DeMuro, Charles DeMuro III (Phylicia DeMuro), Michael DeMuro, Brad DeMuro, and Elizabeth DeMuro; and through his treasured great-grandchildren: Ava James, Spencer DeMuro James, Bella Luna, Giavanna Luna, Nadia Luna, Sophia Quinones, Dominic Quinones, Detonto Quinones, Nathan Barker, Aubrey Barker, Caleb Barker, Wade Barker, Weston Barker, Colton Sippel, Amelia DeMuro, Charlie DeMuro, Alivia DeMuro, Payton DeMuro, Hayden DeMuro, Noah DeMuro, and Zechariah DeMuro. His great-grandchildren affectionately called him the “Cookie Monster,” a name he happily lived up to, always ready with a treat and a laugh.
A dedicated truck driver and owner-operator for nearly 60 years, Chalie exemplified the meaning of commitment and integrity. He took tremendous pride in his work and in the reliability he offered to everyone he served. Working on his truck was one of his greatest joys; he could spend hours tinkering, polishing, and keeping it running just right. His career was more than a livelihood; it was a testament to perseverance, a strong work ethic, and the respect he earned throughout a lifetime on the road.
Outside of work, Chalie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing pool, shuffleboard, and cards, and he never passed up a good scratch-off ticket. He enjoyed sitting outside and soaking up the sun, often with Elvis playing in the background. When he was younger, he loved visiting Chinatown, and throughout his life, he was happiest being around people, sharing stories, laughing, and making everyone feel at ease.
Above all, Chalie cherished time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He rarely missed a sporting event or school activity, showing up as their biggest fan every time. One of his favorite daily routines was his Wawa trips with his great-granddaughter Nadia, a tradition full of giggles, snacks, and memories that will be treasured forever. Chalie’s sense of humor, kindness, and warm, down-to-earth spirit made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, seen, and loved.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM.
Interment will take place thereafter at Resurrection Cemetery.
