Charles Joseph "Charlie" Hauser, Jr., of Bensalem, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025. Charlie was born on January 11, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles J. Hauser, Sr. and Ann (Lee) Hauser.
A dedicated son, brother, and uncle, Charlie always treasured moments with his beloved family who loved him back every bit as much. Whether it be a holiday gathering, watching his Notre Dame Fighting Irish during the Fall, or a Sunday afternoon BBQ thrown together at the last minute, his personality and dry sense of humor alway made every occasion better. "Uncle Charlie" was also a staple at sporting events cheering on his niece and nephews, and many will miss him watching the games from the sidelines. He always put others first and was someone who you could go to for advice or a laugh. Charlie was good for both at any given time. And if you wanted his candid thoughts on current events in the world, well you better have a seat and get comfortable.
A graduate of Holy Ghost Prep School in Bensalem and St. Joseph's University of Philadelphia, Charlie's interests ranged widely. A devout Catholic, he was an avid, lifelong reader who proudly owned thousands of books. Charlie was also a World War II history buff, an interest that began when he was young with war stories told by his father, a proud WW2 a veteran, who Charlie admired tremendously and spoke of fondly. In the 1970s and 1980s, you would often find Charlie down at Veterans Stadium watching his beloved Phillies with friends. A huge fan of old westerns, Charlie had probably seen all of them. During his 20s, he spent many years at the old Philadelphia Park as a horse trainer which fostered a lifelong interest in horse racing. On many days, the last few decades, he could be found down at Parx in Bensalem betting the races and meeting with his friends. And we would be remiss if we didn't give a shout out to The Admiral, his favorite horse from his days as a trainer in the 1970s.
Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie is survived by his sister Patricia (Richard), nieces, Debbie (Rick) and Lisa (Mike), his nephew, Rob (Andrea) as well as his grand nieces and nephews, Matthew, Julia, CJ, Nathan, Gianna, and Danny, as well as his faithful canine companion, Daisy.
All will remember him fondly, especially his sister Patricia who Charlie always looked out for even though he was her "little" brother. It was always the two of them and there is no doubt he'll continue to watch out for her from above.
Till next time Uncle Charlie, your laugh, humor, and personality were a mix that will never be matched. While the holidays and other gatherings will never be the same, we know you'll always be there. But rest assured, we will meet again.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. A Mass of Christian of Burial will celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ephrem Church.
Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super Hwy., Langhorne, PA 19047.
