Born on July 19, 1944, Colin was the beloved son of the late Colin Reed Hitchman and Leila Fox Hitchman. He was a devoted husband, loving family man, proud veteran, and loyal friend whose generosity, humor, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched the lives of many.
Colin honorably served his country as a Hospital Corpsman (HM3) in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was attached to the First Marine Division in Vietnam and was recognized for his courageous and dedicated service. Among his military honors were the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", Combat Distinguishing Device Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Combat Insignia.
Outside of his military service, Colin embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He had a deep love for animals and found joy in restoring and repairing just about anything. He was passionate about muscle cars, spending time at car shows, browsing flea markets, and exploring art exhibits. Music and dancing were among his greatest pleasures, and he could always appreciate a good tune and good company. Colin was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan who enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, tending to his garden, and sharing stories with family and friends.
Colin is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Hitchman; his stepdaughter, Yvonne Stewart; his sister, Joy Neubert (Robert); along with extended family members and many dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
He is now reunited by his parents, and his brother, James R. Hitchman.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Colin's life during a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Bible Church, 1229 Newport Road, Bristol, PA 19007.
Colin's life was defined by service, kindness, resilience, and an unwavering appreciation for the simple joys of life. His legacy of compassion, patriotism, and love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
