David Bupp Sr.

David O. Bupp Sr. passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home with his loving wife by his side at the age of 80.Born in Philadelphia, Dave has been a resident of Lower Bucks County since 1973. He proudly served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for six years where he was trained as a cannonier.Dave, "Newt" as he was known by many, was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his career as a union laborer with the teamsters for nearly 40 years.He loved nature and the outdoors where he enjoyed deer hunting and watching various wild life. He also enjoyed writing poems. After his retirement he could often be found playing Bocce with his neighbors.Dave will always be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor.Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Mary Jane (Dessin) Bupp and his loving children, Evelyn Unger, Betty Marston (Tom), Debbie Patterson (Rob), David Bupp Jr. (Janie) and Bill Bupp (Marge).He is a devoted grandfather of 13, Jenn, T.J., Christopher, Scott, Matt, Shawn, Richie, David III, Steven, Demarie, Lisa, Jason and Kyle and loving great grandfather of 12.Dave will also be missed by brothers, Jim (the late Marge) and Richard (Barbara) as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jane, and his brother, Eddie.Family and friends may call from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania, and mailed to Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
