Deacon Joseph R. Upcavage

Deacon Joseph R. Upcavage passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Chandler Hall in Newtown at the age of 87.Born in Philadelphia, Deacon Upcavage has been a resident of Levittown since the 1960's.Deacon Upcavage attended Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary Deaconate Program and served as Deacon at Queen of the Universe for many years where he was also a member.He was a proud US Army Korean War veteran and a graduate of Penn State University.He retired from Honeywell in 1996 after 20 years of service.Deacon Upcavage was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Joseph the Worker Council #4215. He was also a member of the Order Of Franciscans Secular, Holy Spirit Prayer Group, Association of Christian Therapists and the Big Brother/Big Sister Organization.Beloved husband of over 60 years to Anna M. (Tomko), Deacon Upcavage is the loving father of Richard J and Joseph R. Upcavage and Theresa Wrublesky (Ted).He is the devoted grandfather of 10 and proud great grandfather of 4.Deacon Upcavage will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.Family and friends are invited to call from 10 until 11 a.m. on Thursday at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056 where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mass cards or memorial contributions in Deacon Upcavage's name may be made to Queen of the Universe Church at the above address.
