

Desmond John O'Connor passed away on November 25, 2010 after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1941, he was the youngest of 13 children. Desi, or "Pop" as he was called by many loved ones, moved to the States in 1960 and has been a resident of Fairless Hills for the past 31 years. Desi was a UAW Local 731 Union Official for General Motors and employed with GM for 33 years. He was loved by all who worked with him and was well known for his kindness and generosity toward others. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with is youngest son, Desi, in his hardscaping business. He liked to to help with any needed math or small mechanical task to keep life fun but also to keep his mind sharp. Desi enjoyed watching his youngest grandsons on their various athletic teams. He also got a kick out of seeing his first granddaughter in her dance recitals and the constant fashion shows provided by his youngest love bug who loved her Poppy. Son of the late Rory and Agnes (McGee) O'Connor, he was preceded in death by his siblings Eileen, James, Rosaleen and Noreen. Desi was the loving husband of Gail (Mullen) for 48 years. He was the loving father to Desmond Shawn (Shannan) of Levittown, Lisa Marie (Bob) O'Connor-Reszler of Hamilton, NJ and Craig of Levittown. Also left to cherish his big loving heart are his grandchildren, Patrick Koller, Shawn Rory O'Connor, Brandon Reszler, Kylee Elizabeth O'Connor and Devan Jillian O'Connor. He is also survived by his siblings Lilly Fell and Thomas O'Brien both living in England and Kathleen Grendon and Thomas (Anne) O'Connor of Dublin, Ireland; his very special niece and nephews Gail Gaston of Hamilton, NJ, Neil (Tenley) O'Connor of Jenkintown and Edward Gyarfas of New Jersey as well as many more nieces and nephews living in the states and abroad. He will also be missed by Kay Wallace, Rebecca Edmiston and her very caring family. For the past few months, he has been being cared by for and living with his son Desi and "Daughter" Shannan by whom he will be deeply and sadly missed. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd.,Levittown, where his Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
