Earl was born in Levittown, PA, to his parents, Earl W. Nicholson and Betty Nicholson (Lepley). He graduated from Delhaas High School and Bucks County Technical School in 1976. Earl went on to establish a career in the refrigeration business for over 40 years, including 30 years as the owner of RIMS Refrigeration. Through the years, he made many great friends in the business.
In his free time, Earl enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting with his brother-in-law, fishing trips to the Florida Keys with his buddies, vacationing on more than 10 islands, spending holidays in the Keys, and eating dinner out on Saturday nights—hoping not to be interrupted by a service call.
He provided for his family through his own business, working tirelessly—often 80 hours a week—to ensure their well-being. He was a mentor to his children, friends, family, and coworkers, leading by example with unwavering work ethic, integrity, and selflessness. He treated everyone with respect and kindness, and his great sense of humor brought laughter to those around him. Eager to learn and committed to innovation in his field, he was a natural leader. Above all, he leaves behind a legacy of strong character, humility, and dedication—values that will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl, and his son, Daniel.
Earl is survived by his wife, Pat, with whom he shared 38 years; his stepsons, Charles Husted (Vanessa) and Michael Husted (Brittany); his grandson, Michael, Jr.; his siblings, Linda Nicholson Colella (Robert) of Daytona, FL; Cheryl Nicholson Barna (Bruce) of Hazel Township, PA; and Gary Nicholson of Levittown, PA; his maternal aunts, Marie Lepley and Carol Lepley of Warrington, PA; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at James Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be private and held at a later date, when he will be laid to rest with his son, Dan.
In remembrance of Earl’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to a charity of your choice.
