Born in Edray, WV, she moved to Levittown, PA and resided there for 62 years.
Jean worked for Neshaminy School District/Walter Miller School as an Instructional Assistant and retired in 2018 after 45+ years. She also worked for Rite Aid Corp (Yardley and Levittown stores) as a shift manager and retired in 2021 after 40+ years.
When she was not working her many jobs, she was a Junior Bowling coach and a secretary for the Women's Bowling Leagues. She was so energetic and strong and really enjoyed working with children. She loved her Safties.
Predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Stella (Waugh) Gay, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peter and Mary (Kushmeder) Filipek; her siblings, Ruth Gay, Samuel Gay, Edith Stafford, Merle Gay, Grace Mynuk, Albert Gay, Jim Gay, Opal Byrd, Stearl Gay, Jr., Madge Fair; and her husband who passed in 1983, Louis Joseph Stankevich,
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Deborah Stankevich with whom she resided; her sister, Pat Sharp, Burgnaw, NC; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Charlie.
A short gathering will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 10:45 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem PA, 19020.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jean's memory to Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or S.P.C.A.
