

Emil T. "ET" Thompson Sr., died on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at his home. He was 98. Born in New York City, Mr. Thompson was an original homeowner and Fairless Hills resident for 60 years. Mr. Thompson was associated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a barge captain in New York Harbor and later worked at the Brooklyn Public Utility Co. as a boiler operator. He moved to Fairless Hills in 1952 and worked for U.S. Steel's Fairless Works as a foreman in the utilities department. He retired in 1978 from Tenneco Plastics in Burlington, NJ. Mr. Thomspon was a charter member and trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills where he was involved with the upkeep and maintenance of the boilers and utilities. He enjoyed playing the organ and listening to music. He also enjoyed woodworking, reading, gardening and traveling and was proud to have built his own mountain home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Husband of the late Leona E. Thompson, he was the loving father of Emil T. "Red" Thompson, Jr. and his wife Patricia. He was the devoted grandfather of Scott Andrew Thompson (Carolann), Victoria Amanda Guss (Dennis)., Michael J. Schwab and Nancy Schwab. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Travis and Tennyson Guss, Christie Buzzard, Robert Hernandez, Travis Albanezi and Carley Schwab, great great grandchildren Faith Albanezi, Angelina Hernandez, Nicholas Buzzard and Jack Albanezi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills, 840 Trenton Rd., Fairless Hills,PA 19030 where his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Fairless Hills.
