It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Nickolas, on February 24, 2025, at the age of 81, who passed away unexpectedly after a long battle with cancer. She was a long-time resident of Langhorne, PA.
Evelyn (Evie) worked at Acme Markets in Levittown retiring after 50 years in 2010. Throughout her life, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and kind spirit.
She dedicated her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for her children and husband. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was the true matriarch of the family and a force to be reckoned with.
The special bond they shared, the love and support she gave, and the memories they shared their trips to Disney, to the mountains and anywhere they went to.
She adored Christmas and shared this love with her family. she had a soft spot for animals, especially her beloved cats.
Her nature was one of pure love and kindness, a heart of gold that reflected her deep commitment to her family and friends.
Whether surrounded by family, friends, or strangers, she had a remarkable ability to connect with others. She was an incredibly kind and generous soul and made those around her feel special. Sweet, soft spoken but strong and put everyone else’s needs before her own always thinking of others before herself, she was there at the drop of a hat when needed. She was an extremely generous person and if she had it, she would always give it.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin (Jack) Forest Halvorson and Clothildia (Claudia) Clara Halvorson (nee Bohm). Her Sister Janet Halvorson and niece Marion Masters.
Left to Cherish her memory the love of her life for Edward Nickolas for 65 years, She and Edward Nickolas married on April 24, they meet and started dating in the 60’s. Her personal life was filed with joy and love shared with her high school sweetheart, Edward Nickolas. She enjoyed traveling with her husband going to car shows, auctions, yard sales and flea markets traveling to the home upstate traveling in their Motorhome and visiting all over the states.
Survived by her children blessed to call her Mom Sheri Painz, Eddie Nickolas, loving sister of Eleanor Macdonald, Marie Halvorson, Loving Grammy to Billy Painz, and dear aunt to Chip Proto, Alan Gondack, Donald Macdonald, Richard Masters, Michelle Macdonald. Also, many dear friends called family.
She was a proud and loving Grammy her grandson Billy, she cherished every minute with him to just hang out with him brought her enormous joy.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Please dress casually.
