Gary W. Darnell

Gary W. Darnell, age 70, longtime resident of Levittown, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 25, 2026. He was born to Valkie and Eleanor Darnell in Trenton, NJ. A 1975 graduate of Pennsbury High School, Gary dedicated 28 years of service to the Pennsbury School District. He was a hardworking, faithful, generous, loyal, thoughtful, and gentle man whose kindness and unwavering dedication touched countless lives throughout his career and personal life.

When Gary wasn't working, you could usually find him doing what he loved most—fishing, camping in his RV, or setting off on a cruise with family and friends. He also enjoyed working at the fireworks store, making the Fourth of July his favorite holiday each year.

Perhaps more than anything, Gary loved telling stories. Whether they were funny, heartfelt, or embellished just enough to keep everyone entertained, his stories had a way of bringing people together. His sense of humor, warm personality, and gift for conversation ensured there was never a dull moment when he was around.

Gary is survived by his wife of 15 wonderful years, Jennifer Darnell; his son, Gary Darnell Jr.; his grandchildren: Katie, Becky, Heather, Brandon, and Grayson; three great-grandchildren; his siblings: Linda Repoley (Greg), Suzanne Newell, and Boyd Darnell; and his pets Zoey & Samantha.

Gary is now reunited with his son, Brad Darnell; his parents; and his sister, Cindy Cousins.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on at July 7, 2026 from 4pm-6pm at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056, followed by a memorial service at 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Gary's memory.

Gary's legacy is one of generosity, loyalty, hard work, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered every time a fish bites, fireworks light up the summer sky, or someone gathers to share a good story.
