

George W. Hoagland of Newtown died on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Chandler Hall. He was 94.Born and raised in Trenton, Mr. Hoagland has been a resident of Lower Bucks County for nearly 70 years and enjoyed winters in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a member of Harriman United Methodist Church. Previously he enjoyed singing in and conducting the choir at Somerton Methodist Church.Mr. Hoagland spent his career working as a sales representative for Prudential Insurance Company in Fairless Hills until retiring. A talented musician, Mr. Hoagland became a music teacher upon retirement and went to his students homes to give piano and organ lessons. He enjoyed show tunes and gospel music and always encouraged his children and grandchildren to value music and travel the world.George enjoyed vacationing with his late wife and was proud to have flown on the SST and taking a cruise on the QE2. They also enjoyed golfing together and played many courses around the country.He was a member of the BPOE #2023 in Morrisville.Beloved husband of the late Emily, Mr. Hoagland is the loving father of Robert (Debra), Rick (Denise) and Scott.He will also be missed by 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two brothers, Raymond Hoagland Jr. (Kay) and Donald Hoagland (Darla) and several nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Friday, December 29 at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Interment will follow at William Penn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association - Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
