

Hazel Hilghman, a longtime resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home at age 83. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Hazel spent her life devoted to family, community, and service.
Hazel graduated from Delhaas High School in 1959 and went on to attend Pierce Business School. She built a respected career in Medical Office Administration, working for various physicians and surgeons whose patients and practices benefited greatly from her dedication and compassion. Upon retiring from the medical field, Hazel continued to serve her community as a devoted crossing guard with the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, a role she cherished until her passing.
Hazel’s love of community extended well beyond her work. She was a proud graduate of the Citizen’s Police Academy and volunteered with the Middletown Township Police Department, where she made many lasting friendships.
Hazel was the loving wife of Robert Hilghman, whom she married in 1966. They shared a devoted marriage until his passing in 2015. She is also predeceased by her parents, Leon and Lilyan Himelfarb, her stepmother, Ruth Himelfarb, and her stepbrother Richard Vurchio.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence Hilghman, and his wife, Sandra. Hazel will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren: Sean Hilghman, Maggie Hilghman, Zachary Venziale, and Jacob Venziale, her sister-in-law Eloise Vurchio, and her nieces and nephew, Jacqueline, Lenore, and Richard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania, 19056, on November 21, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, with an Open Floor Memorial Service starting at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or A Woman’s Place in Hazel’s memory.
Hazel will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, community spirit, and the love she gave freely to family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
