Iris Marie Barnes

Iris McRee Barnes, affectionately known as “Ree”, was the cherished daughter of the late Doll and Dora Kimbrough on February 5, 1944, in Pelham, Georgia. Surrounded by family, she departed this earthly life on July 26, 2026.

A graduate of Monroe High School, Iris was a lifelong learner. She pursued a course in welding and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) demonstrating her relentless pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. Her career was marked by unmatched work ethic and dedication, exemplified by 30 years of service at the Bristol Township School District, where she achieved the prestigious position of head custodian before retiring in 2010.

Her greatest achievement was accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Hunt preceded her in death. She is survived by son,mMr. Anthony L. Cotman, daughters, Mrs. Edith M. Cotman-Stewart (Mr. Dean Stewart), Dr. Sophia C. Luster (Dr. Steve Luster), Ms. Patricia D. Washington (Mr. Carlton Lennitt, Sr;), Ms. Brenda L. Abraham, and Mrs. Aretha J. Barnes-Jones (Mr. Lamar Jones).

Her legacy continues through grandchildren, Mr. Randall A. Stewart, Ms. Nadia M. Jones, Mr. Christopher J. Hunt (Mrs. Jennifer Hunt), Mr. Brandon A. Stewart, Ms. Patrice D. Abraham (Fiancee Marlin Williams, Jr.), Mr. Donovan A. Stewart, Ms. Dahjanay M. Barnes, Ms.

Nehvada M. Luster, Mr. Draven M. Barnes, and Miss Charli L.

Jones, as well as great-grandchildren, Mr. Anthony Hunt, Mr. CJ Hunt, Miss Kaylin M. Rankins, and Miss Nova M. Jones-Marsh.

She is also survived by a host of treasured nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Iris's life was a testament to her strength and determination. Her passions included WWE wrestling, quilting and assembling jigsaw puzzles, activities that reflected her love for creativity and challenge. These hobbies were a source of joy and relaxation, providing her with a sense of accomplishment and peace.

As we celebrate Iris life, we remember her as a beacon of strength, wisdom, and unwavering love. Her memory is forever be etched in

the hearts of those she touched.
