

James A. Appleby Longtime Levittown Resident James A. Appleby, age 92, of Falls Twp., PA, died on March 4, 2013, at Statesman Woods Assisted Living, Levittown. Born and raised in Branchdale, PA, Mr. Appleby lived in Hatboro prior to moving to Levittown in 1955. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Pottsville in 1939. Mr. Appleby was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Until his retirement in 1982 he worked as a millwright for Patterson Parchment Paper Co. in Bristol for 25 years. Jim was also a Falls Township Crossing Guard for 17 years. He was an original member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Devoted husband of the late Lorraine M. Appleby (nee Brennan). Loving father of two sons: Michael Appleby (Kathleen) of Warminster and Scott Appleby (companion, Diana Alliprandini) of Trevose, and a daughter, Mary Lynn Bastedo (Robert) of Levittown. He will also be sadly missed by four grandchildren: Daniel, Brian, and Douglas Appleby, and Melissa Bastedo (fiancee, Richard Dansen); and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 9172 New Falls Rd., Fallsington, PA, where friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., Levittown, PA.
