

James E. Heitmann died on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Langhorne Gardens Nursing Home. He was 80. Born and raised in New York City, the son of William and Mary Frances (nee Barrett) Heitmann, James was formerly of Upper Darby. An orginial Levittown homeowner in Middletown Township, he was a member of Queen of the Universe Church, Levittown. James was a cameraman for Channel 3 KYW for 38 years, retiring in 1991. For 13 of those years, he worked with the Mike Douglas Show. Mr. Heitmann was both a Navy and Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. Husband of the late Eileen L. (Lombardy), James is the loving father of James E., Jr. (Terry) of Levittown; Robert of Holland, Richard (Mary Ellen) of Langhorne; Christopher; Mary Eileen Wurtenberg (Billy) and Barbara Andrieni (Gary) all of Levittown and Sharon Wire (Frank) of Langhorne. He will also be sadly missed by his step-children, Blase Mandzak (Teresa), Karen Fried (Guy) and John Mazzanti (Vanessa); his 17 grandchildren, Dawn, Thom, Jessica, Brittany, Tyler, Julia, Michael, Robert, Danielle, Mark, Nicole, Christopher, Andrew, Tristan, Tatiana, Devon and Alina; his 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Caylynne, Ethan and Evan; his brother, Bill of White Plains, NY, his sisters, Virginia Eichenbeger of Mount Vernon, NY, Debbie Schweitzer of Carmel, NY; several nieces, nephews, his sister-in-law, Mary F. Lombardy and his good friends, Lou and Ethel Cesarone of Bensalem. Family are friends are invited to call on Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 am at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown. There will be no calling hours on Friday morning. Rite of Committal will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions in his name be made payable to The Smile Train, 28th Floor, 41 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010.
