James J. Hughes Sr.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Hughes was an original Levittown homeowner and has resided in Langhorne for the past 20 years. He was an HR director with Pennwalt/Stokes Vacuum until his retirement.

After his retirement, he continued his working career as a starter and ranger at the Bensalem Country Club, a job he loved, being an avid golfer.

Mr. Hughes is the beloved husband of the late Geraldine E. (Haines), father of the late Donna Walton (Dale) and grandfather of the late George J. Hughes.

He is survived by his devoted children, Debra Selbe and her husband, James, and James J. Hughes Jr. and his wife Valerie; his grandchildren, Heather Shaw (Robert), Holly Hitchner (Brad), Christina and Michael Selbe, Alyssa (Derek), Ashley and Colin Hughes and Brian Grubb; and great grandchildren, Ronan, Abigail, J.T., Ava and Dante.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 8:30 until 10:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held at 10:00 am. Private interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Hughes' name may be made to the American Red Cross, 2221 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA (please give blood!)
