

James A. O'Neill, Sr. James A. O'Neill, Sr. left our world on Sunday, September 2nd, 2012, after his courageous fight with cancer. He was 84. Born in Philadelphia, PA on April 11th, 1928 to the late Charles J. O'Neill and Katherine (Flynn), he was a 58-year resident of Levittown and a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where he was an Usher for many years. He was also a Life Member and a Knight in the Knights of Columbus. In 1946, he entered the US Army and attained the rank of Corporal. He served abroad in Kobe Honshu Japan until his discharge in 1947. He remained committed to his fellow veterans through his active involvement with the Chaplain Dale Memorial Post, which his father was one of the founding members and he himself became Commander. in 1954, Mr. O'Neill moved his family from Philadelphia to Levittown where he along with his wife Marion raised their family. He started his life long career in the printing industry, first in the shop then in Sales where he spent most of his career earning numerous industry awards for his promotion and advancement of printing. Mr. O'Neill loved boating and the time he spent on his boat at the Neshaminy Marina in Croydon. He was very involved, a friend to many, a dock captain and was the Fleet Captain on the NHYC. He was a humble man, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a true patriot and was considered the greatest of the greatest generation by his friends. Mr. O'Neill will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends he has made over the years. He was the beloved husband for 40 years of Marion (Campbell) and the loving father of his daughter, Marion D. (O'Neill) Mabin, her husband, Mike, and son, James Jr. and his wife Betty. He is also survived by his brother, Jack and grandchildren, Heather (Mabin) Krotzer, husband Stev, Mike Mabin Jr. and his wifee, Kristen, Jillian (Mabin) Bayer and her husband, Joe, James A. O'Neill III and Betty Anne O'Neill. He will also be sadly missed by his five great-grandchildren, Colin and Brielle Krotzer, Michael and Ashlynne Mabin and Cassaday Ireland O'Neill. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday and Friday, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 5201 Emilie Road, Levittow, PA 19057 followed by Rite of Committal in Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to : Now I lay me Down to Sleep, an organization that provides remembrance photography to parents who have lost a baby (as was done in July for his sixth great grandchild, Gabriel).
