He was an Air Force veteran who served from 1959 to 1963 and was deployed to Korea. Upon his return from the Air Force, he moved with his wife to Levittown, Pennsylvania where he lived for the rest of his life. He passed away on June 14th, 2025.
Jim "Pop" Stahl was a cherished father of four daughters, Janice Stahl, Julie Larzelere (Brad), Jacqueline Stahl (Tim), Jeani Stahl (Jesse), and his son-in-law Bill Martin. His daughters deeply appreciate the care given to him by Jesse and Bill as he weakened from congestive heart failure.
He was a true "Pop" to his dear grandchildren, Andrew Stahl (Kinsey), Amanda Bray (Gregory), Melissa Tanzler (Jimmy), Cody Martin and Jacob Martin. His great-grandchildren, Emma Tanzler, Elliot Bray and Teddy Tanzler, were the light of his life.
He was a dedicated son who took loving care of his parents in their last years. He was a cherished brother to Carol Applegate (David) and a beloved uncle to Suzanne Parry (Dave) and their daughter Ashley Parry.
He was a soft-hearted animal lover who doted on his cats B.B. and Layla.
He was loved by many friends and neighbors over the years. He made new friends wherever he went, whether he was in St. Mary Hospital or Rehab, the Coffee Cup Cafe or riding his scooter around the neighborhood.
Jim learned the carpentry trade from his father and was a carpenter his entire working life. He took pride in excellent craftsmanship, whether he was building houses or commercial properties. In the last decades of his career, he was the supervisor on the construction of numerous Wawa stores in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. Whenever you stop at a Wawa, please take a moment to think of Pop and smile!
A viewing for James will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056. Interment will be private.
