

Born in Tehran, Iran, Jim came to the US to go to college. He became a US Citizen in 1965 and had been a long-time resident of Bucks County.
Jim graduated from Penn State University and was hired in 1961 by the Trenton-based architectural firm, Micklewright & Mountford. As the partners retired and the name of the company changed, in 1983, Jim became president of the firm and the name changed to Faridy Thorne Fraytak.
He was an accomplished architect for over 40 years winning many architectural awards including NJ AIA Architect of the Year in 1988. He found happiness in helping others obtain their architectural license by giving a yearly dry run exams for over 25 years.
Some of the buildings he designed in Mercer County NJ included the Hamilton Township Library, schools in West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, Parkway Elementary School in the Ewing Public School District, and the Mercer County Community College Conference Center. In Bucks County PA, he designed schools in the Pennsbury and Council Rock School Districts, the Bucks County Technical High School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church in Levittown, PA and many other public buildings in NJ and PA.
He was an active member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, the Mercer County Community College Foundation, American Institute of Architects, Polish Arts Club of Trenton and Board Member of the Boheme Opera NJ and others.Jim's passion was music and the arts; playing piano since he was 5 years old, especially Chopin, attending and listening to Opera and he loved to paint. Jim also enjoyed traveling the world, going to the beach and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lynne (Blewett), son, Jeffrey and daughter, Lisa (Faridy) Kutch, son-in-law, Dave Kutch and grandson, Vincent, brother Edmond, of Winnipeg, Canada and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. A visitation hour from 10:00 until 11:00 am, and a service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 N Pennsylvania Ave, Morrisville, PA 19067. Interment will follow at the Forrest Hills Cemetery, Huntington Valley, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Morrisville Presbyterian Church or Boehme Opera NJ.
