It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and mother, Jane Yurkanin. She courageously endured the ravages of Dementia but succumbed while resting, surrounded by her loved ones.
From an early age Jane has been a seamstress. She worked in a sewing factory and carried that skill into adulthood when she married and became a homemaker. She took her role as wife and mother very seriously and there was never a day when her home wasn’t clean or the family well fed. Even during illness no one ever noticed because she was never one to complain.
Her family was everything to her and, if possible, she would have had all of them around her 24/7, cooking and making sure everyone had seconds or thirds.
Jane was quite a chef, just ask her husband. She was always willing to try new recipes. Some she has shared with others, but just haven’t been replicated, are: her zucchini bisquick, pierogies, tomato sauce, and apple crumb cake, to name a few.
Her Catholic Faith has sustained her through the years. She attended Mass every Sunday and Adoration weekly until it became too difficult. She prayed the rosary every night and asked the Virgin Mary to keep her family safe. She was truly a good and faithful servant.
She is predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Katherine Cherico, and four of her five sisters; Elizabeth, Gelsamina, Lucy, and Frances. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Thomas Yurkanin; her cherished children, Theresa Yurkanin (Cliff), Tom Yurkanin (Diane), David Yurkanin (Nancy) , Jeff Yurkanin (Tim); her beloved grandchildren, Brian (Bonnie), David (Marybeth), Rachel, Krissy (Chris), and Tommy (Becky): her precious great-grandchildren, Ethan, Judah, Jania, Everlee, Amira, Madeline, Celia, Audrey, Riley, Parker, Crew, Hayes and Hallie. She is also survived by a sister, Josephine, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday September 30th, 2026.from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at St Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Jane’s hospice nurses, Irena, Cindy and Sandy who went above and beyond to support us in her care and give us strength. Special thanks to Linda, our volunteer Meals-on-Wheels driver who not only delivered nourishment for our bodies but more so for our souls. Her prayers over Jane and her family kept us all centered.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jane’s memory to Mary’s Cupboard
