Janet was born in Taft, Louisiana along the Mississippi River. She was the top of her class in grade school and later became a nurse. While working in Mercy Hospital, Janet met her soulmate, Horacio Hidalgo and once married, Janet became a full-time devoted mother to 8 children. Janet and Horacio were married 59 years before he passed away. Janet was a loving mother who always put her family first. She loved to cook, bake and educate her children. Janet had a great sense of humor; her husband referred to her as "Jerry" as in Jerry Lewis. They traveled the world, spent a lot of time in their vacation home in the Poconos and she enjoyed crafting and sewing. She also loved to play tennis, complete puzzles and loved to read books. In her later years, she enjoyed socializing with her friends and playing mahjong.
Janet was a dedicated and active member of Queen of the Universe Parish for many years where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with Mary's Cupboard amongst other things.
