Joan M. McInerney

Joan M. McInerney, 73, a lifelong resident of Lower Bucks County, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. Joan battled a serious illness for 5 months and in doing so, taught her family, friends, doctors and nurses about courage, resiliency and grace.

Joan is survived by her son, Michael McInerney Scott, of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, his wife Emily, and their 4 daughters, Ellie, McKenzi, Thea and Malia. She is also survived by her grandson, Brendan Potach of Manayunk and her granddaughter and amazing caregiver, Kayla Potach of Levittown. Joan will be dearly missed by her 5 sisters and their families; Susan Neuman of Pottstown, PA, Helen McInerney Cruser of Morrisville, PA, Peggy Bergh of Morristown, NJ, Chris Carbone of Frenchtown, NJ and Kathleen McInerney Kane, of Yardley, PA. Joan was preceded in death by her son, John B. Potach, her parents, John and Helen McInerney and her brother, Joe McInerney.

Joan was a 1964 graduate of Pennsbury High School, and a 1966 graduate of the Levittown Beauty Academy. She enjoyed a 50 year career as a hairdresser, and was loved by generations of her clients and colleagues at Faces of Newtown in Newtown, PA.

Joan loved to cook (and was the official provider of hors d'oeuvres for all family gatherings). She also loved to garden, had savant-like knowledge of movies (especially old movies) and maintained lifelong relationships with her circle of friends from high school, with whom she reunited every year. Joan was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her son and beloved grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 10:30 until 11:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Interment will be held privately.
