

Born in Philadelphia, Russell proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Yorktown. He later enjoyed a long career as a sheet metal mechanic with Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 19. A hardworking man, Russell often used his skills to create sheet metal artwork in his garage.
Russell enjoyed riding and repairing motorcycles and collecting coins and antique guns. Above all, he treasured spending time with his wife, their dogs and other pets. He was also a kind and dependable neighbor who was always willing to help others.
Russell is now reunited with his wife, Dorothy Bertles; his parents, Edith M. and John R. Bertles; and his brother, Albert Bertles.
He is survived by his children, Rusty, Randy, Ronnie, Paul, Angie, and Jay Bertles; many grandchildren; and sister, Edith Bourrillion.
A viewing will be held for Russell on July 21, 2026, at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. He will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors following the service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.
