John was born in Allentown, to parents, John and Theresia Catzin. He graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1970. John worked at Prudential for a short time, where he met his beloved wife, Marn. John continued his career at U.S. Steel in Tullytown, followed by American Standard in Product Development. After his time at American Standard, John attended Pennco Tech, later graduating from Penn State with a degree leading to work in Computer Programming.
John was a passionate Phillies and Eagles fan and rarely missed a game on TV. He had a love for music, specifically The Beatles, and was a talented guitar player, passing that love down to his children. He could always be found on the sidelines watching his Grandsons’ play soccer and baseball. He took great pride in working in his yard and vegetable garden.
John was an extremely talented scroll saw artist and was a perfectionist when it came to his craft. His beautiful woodwork was meticulously crafted and will continue to live in the homes of many of his friends and family. He took the time to make his grandsons a special ornament each year for Christmas, a gift for them to hang on their trees and remember him as they get older. He took great pride in his work.
His greatest attribute was the love he showed his wife, children and grandsons. John also had a great love for his dogs, rescuing many throughout his lifetime.
John is survived by his loving wife Margaret Catzin (Incollingo), his children, Sean Catzin (Meghan) of Hulmeville, Angela Catzin (Marty Boston) of Bristol and Jennifer Catzin (Tim Tressler) of Levittown. P-Pop will be greatly missed by his three cherished Grandsons, Jackson Catzin (Sean), William Tressler (Jennifer) and Bryce Catzin (Sean). He is also survived by sisters, Marge Zimnes and Dr. Maryann Catzin-Galietta as well as many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held Monday, August 24, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:30am, followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations in John’s name may be made to The American Heart Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
