

John Masko John Masko, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jenkovce, Slovakia. He grew up in Bristol Borough and has resided in West Bristol for 61 years. Mr. Masko was predeceased by his parents, John and Susan Masko, and his twin sister, Susan Pitonyak. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his two children, Michael J. Masko and his wife, Ellen and Karen Lee Clements and her husband Rick; his grandchildren, A.J. D'Angelo-Masko, Claudia Smith, Matthew Clements, Laura Clements and Stephen Harder; and two great grandchildren, Arianna and Deven Harder. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Evans and his brother, Michael S. Masko and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Masko was a charter member and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, Pius XII Council. He was a long time member of the Liberty Bell Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War. During World War II he served in the 28th Infantry Division, was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war from December 1944 through April 1945. He was honored many times by his church and community for his service to his country. Mr. Masko worked as a machinist at Kaiser Metals in Bristol Borough and for 23 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Levittown. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 8:30 until 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, Bristol Pike and Walnut Avenue, Croydon, PA 19021. Rite of Committal will be held on Friday, 10:30 am in Washington Crossing National Cemetery. A special thanks to Dr. Michelle Scannapieco and the staff of Saint Mary Medical Center and Attleboro Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care.
