John Merrell, Sr. John "Doug" Merrell, Sr., died on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Lower Bucks Hospital. He was 64. Mr. Merrell was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965. He has resided in Bucks County for the past 40 years. Mr. Merrell was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam serving with the 25th Infantry. He was recently retired from Amtrak where he worked as a mechanic for over 30 years. Doug had a passion for antique cars and trucks and also model trains. He served as Commander of the State Fencibles. Son of the late John S. and Jean (Orr) Merrell, Doug was the loving father of Dawn Brett of Levittown and John D. Merrell, Jr. and his wife Victoria of E. Greenville, PA. He was the devoted grandfather of Johnny, Caitlyn, Tommy and Brianna. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, 9:30 until 10:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
