

John Joseph Russell died on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Russell had resided in Langhorne for 55 years. He was a distinguished member of the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club, a Pennsylvania Hunter Education Instructor for over 40 years at and also a member of the American Hunting Dog Club for 25 plus years.Mr. Russell was a retired diesel mechanic and welder and a proud US Army veteran.John was a great family man. He was also a great outdoorsman. He loved all sorts of hunting, training his dogs, and camping with his family. He was so passionate about the things he loved doing that he would eagerly look for an opportunity to share and teach others. John had a knack for being able to fix or build anything and was very good at all he attempted. He also enjoyed dancing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.Beloved husband of 59 years to Ruth M. (Kelley), John is the loving father of Kelly Ann Preston (David), Tracey Crouse (George), Scott Russell (Teena) and Wendy Preston. He is the devoted grandfather of 11; great grandfather of 8; and brother of Thomas Russell and Patricia Kezlaw (John).Mr. Russell will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Quest. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and on Friday, from 9:00 until 10:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am.
