

John (Jay) C. Walter, Jr. of Levittown lost his long hard-fought battle with kidney disease and passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania of heart failure after successfully receiving a kidney transplant. He was 48. He was born in Fort Dix, NJ to parents John C. and Elizabeth (Carey) Walter, Sr. and had been a Levittown resident for most of his life. Jay had a zeal for life and was active in the Cross Roads Emmaus Community and his church and will be sadly missed by everyone whose life he touched. Being a true Christian believer, we know Jay is at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His memberships and accomplishments include being a member of Emilie United Methodist Church where he served as head usher, a founding member of the Emilie Praise Band In Spirit and on various committees including Angel Food Ministries, the Lay Visitation Team and Statesman Woods Assisted Living Community Ministry. Jay was a lifelong Boy Scout, earning his Eagle Scout rank from Troop 119. He was a life member of the Eagle Scout Association. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow and remained active in Cub Scout Pack 110 and Boy Scout Troop 121 and most recently as a district unit commissioner of the Bucks County Council. He was also a loyal Mason. An avid percussionist, musician and composer, Jay loved music and always had a song in his heart. He began his Mummer career at the age of 12 with the Greater Bucks County String Band. He continued his Mummer career with the Uptown Spring Band for the last decade and was inducted into the Mummer Hall of Fame in 1994. He loved his magic and trivia and hoped to be on Jeopardy one day. Jay was an electrical estimator and project manager for Tri M of Kennet Square for several years. He was a former member of Lodge 776 F& AM and the Edgley Fire Company. Jay will be sadly missed by his wife, Antonette Bomentre-Walter, his stepchildren, Amanda, Nicholas and Andrew Angellella, his father, John Walter, Sr., his sister Jo Ann and brother-in-law Steve Mulzet, nephews, Stephen and Anthony, and niece Danielle all of Levittown. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty and his brother, Gary. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown and again on Friday, 10:30 until 11:30 am Emilie United Methodist Church, 7300 New Falls Road, Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Jay's request was that everyone wear bright, happy colored clothing to his funeral.
