

Joseph W. AugustinSurrounded by his loving family, Joseph W. Augustin, 84, was taken home to be with God on Sunday, August 19, 2018.Born in Bloomfield, NJ, and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Joe was a resident of Morrisville for the past 55 years. He was a founding member of Saint John the Evangelist Parish and faithful servant of the Lord.Joe will always be the loving husband of 58 years to Mary Jane (Bird), the beloved father of Tom and his wife Maureen, Michael and his wife Mary and cherished grandfather of Thomas and Katie and step grandfather to Addison and Hailey. He is the devoted brother of Phyllis Douglas and the late Cecilia Augustin and Claire Baker, and the trusted brother-in-law of Joe and Willie Bird, Downingtown. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families, and will be greatly missed by many friends and neighbors, most especially the Napolitano family and his best pal, Craig Peapus. After serving proudly in the United States Army, Joe was employed with New Jersey Bell Telephone (ATT) as a foreman for 30 years. After he retired, Joe started his own company, A&W Tel Communications. He also shared in the ownership of The Margarita Man of PA. In December 2015, Joe was honored by Villa Victoria Academy for his benevolent, humanitarian service. His name was placed on the Villa Victoria Wall of Fame, alongside his wife, Mary Jane.In his earlier years, Joe was very active with the Pennsbury Athletic Association proudly coaching his sons' teams. In 1984, he received the Carl Bingaman Award for outstanding service to the Youth of the Pennsbury Community. His love for PAA was renewed and revitalized when his first grandson Thomas became involved in sports. Pennsbury's Music and Drama programs gained an avid participant when his granddaughter, Katie, became involved in theater and chorus. Joe enjoyed spending time at his vacation homes. When in the Pocono Mountains, his family and extended family enjoyed many happy times: in Florida, he laughed and relaxed in the sunshine with his long-time friends. Joe went on many fabulous hunting trips with his dear friend, Mike Sitko. He looked forward to work weeks and hunting season every year.Throughout his life, Joe loved his golden retrievers, especially Murphy. He was frequently seen with a dog in tow walking through the neighborhood. He was happiest in his garden and loved sharing his bountiful harvest with everyone!Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 27, 2018, 10:00 am at Saint Ignatius of Antioch Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA. Immediately following will be the Rite of Committal at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
