Joseph William Deal

Joseph William Deal of Upper Darby passed into eternal life on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Spring Village at Floral Vale in Yardley. He was 88.Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Deal was a long time resident of Upper Darby where he was a member of St. Laurence parish. He was a recent resident of Spring Village for the past 3 years.Joe retired 1993 from Sysco Foods and previously worked for D.J. McNichol Trucking Company. Joe also served as an Upper Darby police officer.Mr. Deal was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Little Rock and was trained in San Diego as a deep sea diver working with the Merchant Marines port-o-calls all around the world. He was a member of the USS Little Rock Association, he will be honored with a burial at sea.Joe's gentlemanly and generous manner endeared him to all who knew him. His larger than life presence touched the lives of many friends, family, neighbors and co-workers alike .Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Brennan), Mr. Deal is survived by his loving children, Kevin J. (Eileen), Colleen M. (Michael), Sean F. (Janice) and Maureen B. Lennon (Jeff).He is the devoted grandfather of Jeffrey (Daniella), Lauren (Miguel), Patrick, Meredith, Ryan and Bridget and the proud great grandfather of Sophia.Joe's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the staff at Spring Village at Floral Vale in Yardley for their exceptional and loving care.Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 where his funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Laurence Church Memorial Fund, 30 St. Laurence Road, Upper Darby, PA 19022.
