Joseph J. Harkanson Sr.

Joseph J. Harkanson of Levittown died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at his home. He was 81. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Harkanson was a resident of the Logan section of the city before moving to Levittown in 1971. He worked for Jones of New York for 25 years until retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish. Mr. Harkanson was the husband of the late Lois F. Harkanson; father of the late Mary Quinn and grandfather of the late William M. and Melanie Marie Harkanson. He was the loving father of Joseph J. Harkanson Jr. (Donna) of Warminster, Kenneth W. Harkanson (Linda) of Fairless Hills and George P. Harkanson (Deanna) of Hamilton, NJ. He was the brother of Florence Harkanson of Philadelphia and the late John, Mary, Kathryn, Helen, Edward, Bernard and Robert. He will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 8 until 9:45 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church followed by Rite of Committal at Resurrection Cemetery.
