

Joseph A. Sheenan of Fairless Hills passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Saint Mary Medical Center. He was 83. Born in Trenton, NJ, Joe was the youngest son of John and Johanna Sheenan. He graduated from Trenton Catholic in 1949 and from Belmont Abbey College (NC) in 1954. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy for six years in Norfolk VA, and soon after moved to Levittown where he worked as a chemist at Stauffer Chemical Company in Morrisville for 27 years. Joe was a long time member of the Queen of the Universe Parish, and more recently worshiped at St. Frances Cabrini where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus (St. Joseph the Worker Council #4215) and also served as a professed Franciscan from the Katherine Drexel Fraternity. He enjoyed coaching soccer and baseball at Middletown AA, and passionately followed all the Philly sports teams. He was a proud resident of Lower Bucks County for the past 50 years. Joe was predeceased by his first wife Mary ("Marti") and was the beloved husband of Madeline "Midge" Menschner-Sheenan for the last 9 years. He was the loving father of Joseph P. Sheenan (Marie) of Langhorne, Marie Zweircan (Frank) of Reinholds, PA and Krista Bruehl (Ralph) of Morrisville, and was a loving step-father to Pat, Susan, Frank, and Michael. He was the proud "Pop Pop" to his 9 grandchildren; Brittany, Shawn, Kevin, Lauren, Nicole, Emily, Kurt, Derek and Katrina. "Uncle Joe" was the last of his generation in the family and was revered by his many nieces and nephews. The big guy will be sadly missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday evening, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Friends may also call on Tuesday morning, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Frances Cabrini Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030. The Rite of Committal will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saint Frances Cabrini Parish at the above address.
