Karen Louise Hogeland, a longtime resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 20, 2026.
Born in Pittsburgh in 1945, Karen moved to Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and later graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1963. It was during those early years that she met her high school sweetheart, Donald Wesley Hogeland. The two married in 1965 and went on to share more than six decades together, building a life centered around faith, family, and love.
Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated herself to making her home a place where everyone felt welcome. Whether someone needed a place to stay, a meal to eat, a prayer, or simply a few words of encouragement, Karen's door and heart were always open. She especially treasured hosting family Christmas gatherings and the time spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Karen enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved watching soap operas and the Hallmark Channel, sewing clothing and doing alterations, and, most of all, cooking for those she loved. Her generosity extended well beyond her immediate family. Compassionate, devoted, faithful, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, Karen found great joy in giving to others and making people feel cared for and included.
Faith was an important part of Karen's life. She had a deep love for God, Scripture, and singing worship songs. She faithfully attended church and synagogue, and her beliefs were reflected not only in the way she worshiped, but also in the kindness, compassion, and encouragement she offered to those around her.
Karen is now reunited with her husband, Donald Wesley Hogeland, her parents Edward Elder and Anna Elder (nee Peterson), and her son-in-law, Scott Horton.
She is Survived by her children: Yvonne Sorensen (Chris), Wesley Hogeland (Sue), Ingrid Horton, and Rachael Abrams (Rich); as well as her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.
Karen's legacy will live on through the hearts of all the lives she touched.
